Congratulations, Dr. Filipov!

Following the recommendation of the Interdisciplinary Toxicology Executive committee, Dean Ron Walcott has appointed Dr. Nikolay Filipov, the new ITP director, effective February  1, 2023.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Filipov and to see his journey from once being a graduate student in the Toxicology program to not coming full circle with his appointment as its Director.

Dr. Filipov’s Key Areas of Focus are to:

  • Increase the Program’s national and international visibility further (IUTOX, FUTURES events, etc.)
  • Facilitate efforts towards additional support for the Program, e.g., ITPhoused T32, by providing input into new faculty recruitment (Strategic Hires)
  • Expand the footprint of the program on campus, e.g. engage faculty from the College of Engineering, to meet the increasing demands for interdisciplinary research with translational potential
  • Work towards sustainable diversity efforts (e.g., targeted new assistantship)
  • Listen to the ITP faculty membership and maintain diverse representation on the Executive and Admissions Committees of the Program
  • Have regular interactions and consult with UGATox

A new graduate coordinator will be selected to replace Dr. Filipov soon. If you have any questions, please reach out to the ITP office.
